Pamporovo is a popular ski resort in Smolyan Province, southern Bulgaria, one of the best-known in Southeastern Europe.Pamporovo is served by two main airports: Plovdiv Airport and Sofia Airport.Pamporovo is set amongst magnificent pine forests and is primarily visited during the winter for skiing and snowboarding. It is also a popular tourist place in summer. The hub of Pamporovo comprises a number of excellent hotels and bars. It is also one of the southernmost skiing resorts in Europe.The ski tracks of Pamporovo have all degrees of difficulty and is particularly well suited to beginners and intermediates having one of the best ski schools in Europe.The ski resort Pamporovo is set in the southern Rhodope Mountains at an altitude of 1620 meters above sea level. The highest peak in the area, Snezhanka at 1928 m, is several hundred meters above the resort. Pamporovo is around 260 km away from Sofia, 85 km south of Plovdiv, 15 km north of Smolyan, and 10 km south of Chepelare. Four snow-levelling machines and six snow cannons guarantee skiers comfortable and enjoyable downhill rides. More than 100 highly qualified ski instructors, fluent in various languages, are available to aid both beginners and intermediate skiers as well as snowboarders.The winters in Pamporovo tend to be mild, but have around 150 days of snowfall each year. This combination allows for a long skiing season at the resort.

Alternative skiing can be found at Chepelare resort (only 10kms away). Chepelare has one chairlift and the longest piste in Bulgaria.Chepelare is a popular winter resort with one of the longest ski runs in Southeastern Europe. It is located near Pamporovo, one of the biggest Bulgarian resorts.

Bansko is a town and ski resort in southwestern Bulgaria, located at the foot of Pirin at an altitude of 925 m above sea level. It is considered to be the most developed Ski and Winter Resort in Eastern Europe, and is one of the best in Europe.Bansko, once mainly a stockbreeding and travelling merchant community, has nowadays become a center of winter and summer tourism.The distance between Sofia and Bansko is 170 km. The nearest International Airport is the one in Sofia and in Plovdiv. We suggest you pick up a rental car from one the airports- Plovdiv Airport or Sofia airport. As the number of rental cars available at the airport is limited, you should make reservations well in advance of arrival. The mountain peaks near the town of Bansko, the numerous lakes and the old pine woods make it a popular site for recreation. In recent years, the town has gained international popularity after the start of the annual Bansko Jazz Festival and consequently the annual Bansko pop-star concert featuring top pop stars. The nearby village of Banya, located only 5 km from the town, is known for its 27 thermal mineral springs.Bansko provides a superb combination of virgin nature of The Pirin mountain with state of the art ski lifts and a well planned ski area, whilst still retaining the atmosphere of the ancient Bulgarian small town. Bansko is not only a resort but also a beautiful historic spot.A new gondola lift was built in 2003 to replace a minibus ride up to the ski slopes of Todorka. Several other gondolas and ski lifts are in the process of being built. These developments, along with the construction of extensive housing and recreational facilities around the gondola (which is on the southwest end of the town by the river), have made Bansko a popular and growing destination.

Dobrinishte is a town and ski resort in the Blagoevgrad Province, southwestern Bulgaria. As of 2006 it has 2973 inhabitants. It is located 6 km east of Bansko. It has an altitude of 850 m and is surrounded by the Rila, Pirin, and Rhodopi mountains. Dobrinishte offers good conditions for both winter and summer tourism: beautiful nature, hospitable population, ski runs, mineral waters and opportunities for rural and ecotourism. It is also the terminus of the narrow gauge railway from Septemvri. According to legends and song, between 6th and 15th century Dobrinishte was a Bulgarian stronghold which halted the Byzantines from invading the country from the valley of Mesta.

The village is a famous spa resort with 17 mineral springs with temperature of 30-43°C. The water is used to cure different diseases. There are 7 km of ski runs.
